Our History
Built in 1905, the historic Upchurch-Williams house was a private family home for over a century. From 2014 to 2018, a local preservation group gained ownership of the home, removing non-original additions and moving the home down the road from its original location on Roberts Road. In 2018, the Upchurch-Williams was designated as an Apex Historic Landmark.
Our Story
With a vision for continuing the story of this historic space through meaningful celebrations, we purchased the home in 2020 and broke ground in spring of 2021. The Upchurch is now our family’s legacy, and we want it to be a part of yours, too.
I’m Cara Powell. As owner and operator, it is my honor to invite you to The Upchurch. After 18 years as a leader in wedding photography, I am thrilled to bring my knowledge and experience into this sector of the wedding and event industry.
OUR FAMILY
My husband Brad and I met in 2017, and exactly one year later to the day, we were married in a beautiful, intimate ceremony surrounded by our daughters, parents, siblings, and close friends. Our hope is that The Upchurch would become a part of your family story, a place that brings your cherished ones together, and the backdrop of your most unforgettable moments.
